Typographical Hierarchy Study & Poster Series

Jazz in July

Fall 2016

In a study of typographic hierarchy and it's impact on communication, we learned that hierarchy expresses the organization of content, emphasizing some elements and subordinating others. By combining spatial and graphic cues, infinite variations are possible.

This hierarchy study completed for S351 Typography, included a set of 3 different poster variations. The first was to be made using only text in black and white, 1 font size and of the same family. The second could use varied text size, emphasis and glyphs. The third could implement color and the use of simple shapes.
